Fellowship in Brief
Worth a total of C$10,000 per academic term for up to four terms in total, the Fellowship is awarded for graduate-level studies in Canada for francophone students at the University of Calgary or Western Universitsy and for anglophone students at Université Laval or Université de Montréal (including affiliated schools HEC Montréal and the École Polytechnique–Université de Montréal). The aim of the Scholarship is to promote intercultural awareness and interprovincial studies.
Some five dozen individuals have been granted the privilege of becoming Schmeelk Fellows since 1985, when the first Fellowships were awarded. To date, the Fellows have studied in roughly equal numbers between Université Laval and Western University, with the first Fellows-in-residence currently studying at Université de Montréal and University of Calgary.
